JOURNAL ASSIGNMENT #7
Hand colored prints should have low contrast and a lot of detail. For hand coloring I am going to try and color someones eye for one and I don't know about the other. I have't done them yet so I can't critique them.

JOURNAL ASSIGNMENT #6
cross processing: putting film in a chemical meant for another type of film
Cross processing are best with bright colors. I wanted to take pictures outside in the sun for this roll. My first image could have been better because there was no center of interest and it was too dark. I liked my second although I should have used brighter colors.

JOURNAL ASSIGNMENT #5
For my solarization I used subjects that would reflect light and took them in lighting that created high contrast. It is important to keep them simple because if there are too many details the solarization can be distracting. My first print had too much dust on it and my second could have had higher contrast. Other than that they were good.

JOURNAL ASSIGNMENT #4
A good polaroid transfer is a picture without a lot of detail because when the ink transferes there will be spots left off of the paper. There also has to be good lighting.
I really like my polaroid transfers because I like the subject, lighting and colors.

JOURNAL ASSIGNMENT #3
The first layer is the ground and buildings, the second layer is the trees and land, the third is the sky, and the fourth is the clouds. The buildings and the sky layer intersect but it isn't distracting.

The first layer is the bricks, the second is the railing, the third is the water, the fourth is the sun, and the fifth is the sky. This is an exceptional example of layering because there are at least 5 layers and none of them intersect.

The first layer is the rocks, the second is the water, the third is rocks, the fourth is sky.
The layers barely intersect in this and are not distracting.

The first layer in this is trees, the second is ground, the third is fence, the fourth is mountains, and the fifth is sky. The layers intersect in this and it is distracting. This assignment made me a better photographer because it made me think about everything that was going into my pictures before I took them. I did not like my layering pictures because I couldn't find good subjects.

JOURNAL ASSIGNMENT #2

I chose these photographs because I like the composition and they are interesting. The grain works in the photos and makes them look more artistic. In the future for 3200 speed film I will pick subjects that work well with a grainy look. I didn't do a 3200 film roll this year because I substituted a portraits roll for it. I like higher speed film in certain pictures.

JOURNAL ASSIGNMENT #1
The subject of my first photograph was a vine going up a railing. I like how my subject is centered and the symmetry in my picture. I should have dodged in the top a little to get rid of bright spots and there is dust that is distracting. The subject of my second picture is a glass angel. I like the subject and the angle. I should have used a higher filter and focused better.
